Gloucester Rugby are pleased to announce that club stalwart Peter Buxton has returned to the club to succeed Andrew Stanley as the new Senior Academy Manager.
Buxton left Kingsholm at the end of last season to move down the M5 to join Bristol Rugby, after his contract with Gloucester ended after 11 years of sterling service with the Cherry and Whites.
After 273 competitive appearances for Gloucester throughout his long and illustrious career, Buxton will now be responsible for managing an Academy set-up that, in conjunction with Hartpury College, has produced a plethora of young and exciting talent, able to make the step up into the senior Gloucester ranks and often onto international recognition.
Buxton is already more than familiar with the Academy structure having coached the Gloucester Rugby U18s last season, and will now widen his remit.
Director of Rugby Nigel Davies spoke of his delight in securing the services of Buxton to continue the good work of new Forwards Coach Andrew Stanley.
“I’m thrilled that Bucko has joined our staff in helping to develop and maintain the fine work of our Academy.”
“We know the importance of working with people that understand the traditions and ethos of the club. After 11 years at Kingsholm, I’m not sure that anyone is better able to understand and communicate this than Bucko.
