RPA Statement - Return to Training Update

The Rugby Players Association today welcomed the news from DCMS that elite sport is now able to start making plans for the players to return to training.

A spokeswoman said “Since the game shut down on March 14th, the RPA has been working very closely with PRL and the RFU and an array of medical and physiological experts to prepare for the time when the clubs and players can start to plan for their return to individual and small group training.

As all stakeholders have noted, there is still a considerable amount of work to be done to ensure that the health and safety of everyone involved is paramount and no players, coaches or support staff will be at significant risk when rugby returns.

We will be discussing the matter further at the Professional Game Board tomorrow and
will be working to realistic process, protocol and timeframes whilst ensuring the welfare of all the employees is our absolute collective priority."
