Ed Jackson joins Restart Rugby Alpine Challenge

Ed Jackson will embark on the latest chapter of his incredible story after confirming he will take on the Restart Rugby Alpine Challenge on 9th – 12th September. T

he former Dragons, Wasps, London Welsh and Bath forward will join a team of trekkers including RPA Group CEO Damian Hopley and Restart Rugby ambassador Charlie Hodgson on the three-day climb of the magnificent Mont Buet in France. With panoramic views of the Mont Blanc massif and Switzerland stretching as far as the Matterhorn, the 10,000ft climb will provide Ed with his latest challenge following successfully summiting Mount Snowdon earlier this year. Ed defied all medical odds following his freak accident in April 2017, by climbing 3,560ft to summit Mount Snowdon. He has raised more than £34,000 for Restart Rugby to date. The Alpine Challenge aims to raise much needed funds and awareness for Restart Rugby and its work supporting players suffering from serious injury, illness and hardship, and will provide the perfect challenge as Ed continues his amazing recovery.

Ed Jackson said: “Restart Rugby has been there since day one of my recovery. They have made such a difference to me and how positive and motivated you see me today. The Alpine Challenge is the perfect next goal for me. It’s a step up from Mount Snowdon, it will test me both physically and mentally. “I came away from Snowdon with a lot of confidence. It was hugely difficult and wasn’t an easy thing for me to do, but it left me with an enormous amount of self-belief, knowing that I could do something like this.” The 29-year-old who was recognised with the Blyth Spirit Award at the 20th RPA Awards in May, has encouraged rugby fans to book their places to join him on the challenge. “From my experience of climbing Snowdon, there is nothing better than pushing yourself through something amazing with an incredible group of people. We had such a special time together, raising a fantastic amount for Restart Rugby, and forming such strong bonds and friendships. “The Alpine Challenge presents another spectacular opportunity to come together as a group of people and achieve something which is not only very humbling but also hugely motivating. “I encourage all rugby fans to sign up to the Restart Rugby Alpine Challenge and join Damian, Charlie and me for what will be a life-changing experience, in an amazing part of the world, for an incredible charity.”
