RPA Diversity and Inclusion Virtual Event

The RPA is proud to announce our first dedicated Diversity and Inclusion focused member event, taking place on Monday 14th December at 7pm.

The virtual event will be hosted by James Bailey, ex-Premiership and England 7s player and the RPA’s Diversity and Inclusion Advisor. James, with support of Mark Lambert from the RPA, will be leading a panel discussion with a host of rugby stars including Harlequins and England International Shaunagh Brown, Bath’s Beno Obano, former Harlequins and England International Ugo Monye, and recently retired England International Danielle Waterman, along with other leading figures from the game. Following the panel discussion there will be a Q&A session for attendees.

The event entitled, ‘The Rise of Athlete Activism: How athletes are using their voice for social change’ will give a particular focus to race and gender equality. The panel will discuss the current sporting landscape, as well as looking at the role that both current and retired players are playing in using their voice to advocate causes they feel strongly about.

The event will be open to all RPA members, and for the first time all women’s Premier 15s players are welcome to attend. It represents the first major step in the newly updated Diversity and Inclusion programme from the RPA, which will include the launch of our Equity Network. This is also intended to be the first of monthly RPA events focused on Diversity and Inclusion.
