All over the country, Club teams have been swapping the pitch for the kitchen to raise funds for Restart and Comic Relief. Supported by Sainsbury’s and Silver Spoon, 9 teams and over 40 players have taken up the challenge to bake and decorate 1,000 cupcakes and then race around local offices to sell their tasty treats.
The action kicked off in Newcastle where Rory Lawson, Ally Hogg, James Hudson and Rob Vickers represented Falcons in the first bake-off event. Staff at Accenture and North Tyneside Council were obviously impressed with the results because the cakes sold out within hours.
Towering lock, James Hudson, even came prepared with special edible Falcons logos to adorn the cakes: “Restart is a great charity, so I’m pleased that Newcastle Falcons have got involved. The daftest player during the week’s training has to bake for the rest of the squad on a Friday. So I’ve had a bit of practice, but nowhere near as much as Tim Swinson!
