The Rugby Players’ Association (RPA) today commented on the news of Andy Goode’s retirement from rugby with immediate effect due to injury.
RPA Group CEO, Damian Hopley, said: “Andy has been one of the outstanding characters of English rugby over his 17 year career and his inimitable style has endeared him to rugby fans all over the world. Whilst not the most conventional looking of athletes, Goodey has never disappointed and his career haul of silverware and international caps speak for themselves in terms of his talent and footballing ability.
Most importantly Andy has always played with a big smile on his face and the Aviva Premiership will be a duller place without him. I have no doubt he will make a great success of his next chosen career and I hope that we see him back involved in the game before too long. Although not, I suspect, as a nutritionist..”
