Newcastle Falcons’ players recently spent the afternoon at UK Trades Training learning the intricacies of wall and floor tiling.
Organised as part of The Rugby Players’ Association’s (RPA) Player Development Programme the players participated in a Trade and Business Skills session where they were given the chance to learn the basic fundamentals of tiling and take part in a practical session.
UK Trades Training are renowned for delivering professional fast track courses specialising in plastering, wall and floor tiling, plumbing, locksmithing, multi-skill and photography from their purpose built 10,000 square foot trade course centre in the North East of England.
The six players in attendance, Callum Green, Will Welch, Sean Brown, Alex Rodgers, Warren Fury and Glen Young were joined by their RPA Player Development Manager, Mandy Thompson for the three hour session.
For Newcastle Falcons’ captain, Will Welch, the experience provided him and his teammates with the perfect opportunity to try something different: ‘’I have an interest in property development and learning a trade is something I’m considering. Mandy has done a great job putting on a number of sessions to help us experience life away from the game and we are all extremely grateful for her support. The session enabled me to gain a greater insight into the trades industry and the business talk from Darren was a massive bonus, giving us all things to think about that we probably wouldn’t have considered.
