With the 2015/16 season fast approaching, a group of Newcastle Falcons’ Academy players recently undertook a Cooking Skills Session delivered by professional chef, Anthony Brown.
Held at the The Beacon in Newcastle, the session was set up in conjunction with the RPA’s Player Development Programme (PDP), to help the players brush up on their kitchen skills and ensure a healthy everyday diet.
Joining their RPA Player Development Manager, Mandy Thompson, the nine players in attendance were taken through several different cooking techniques, developing different recipes and competing against each other for the best taste and presentation.
Newcastle Academy player, Joe Craggs, said: “It was a very enjoyable day, we learnt about all the basic cooking skills and in particular how to maintain a strong and consistent diet.
“As a young player, cooking is often looked at as a chore and something not many guys really find too interesting, however today has completely changed that assumption.
“I personally have taken a huge amount out the session, not only have we learnt some fantastic new recipes and skills, we have also been guided by a really top chef in Anthony Brown.
