Nine Feet Tall, a Bath based business consultancy, recently undertook the first of a series of training initiatives in conjunction with the RPA and Bath Rugby. Nine Feet Tall wanted to get involved with the Player Development Programme in order to help players learn about the fundamentals of business practice and to gain real business exposure whilst still in their playing careers to prepare for their future integration into the business world.
Nick Abendanon, Dave Attwood, Simon Taylor, Ross Batty, Will Tanner, Kane Palma-Newport and Nick Koster all took part in the project management essentials course led by Nine Feet Tall MD Esther McMorris and Partner, Huw Jones. This session focused on key skills for delivering successful change projects and helped players identify skills that are transferable from their experience, whilst complementing their studies and/or future career interests.
Nick Abendanon, who is also studying for a degree in Leadership and Management through Northumbria University’s distance learning course for RPA members, commented: “Nine Feet Tall has been really fantastic in supporting us with their unique approach to training. I am preparing myself for life off the pitch and I’ve not only learned a great deal about the essentials of managing projects, but have also gained insight into the business world. This is a consultancy with a difference seeking to assist our integration into the business environment after a life of rugby and I’m looking forward to more business-focused training sessions over the next few months.
