Mark Odejobi: Aiming High

Retiring from rugby at the age of 26 might seem like an odd decision, but for former Wasps and current England Sevens star, Mark Odejobi, the timing is perfect. Nicknamed Oddjob by his peers, the London born winger will hang up his boots this year and pursue a career in the financial industry.

Since making his professional rugby debut in 2008, Mark has always had his sights firmly fixed on future employment prospects and will go searching for the ultimate new career.

His glittering rugby journey started as a teenager, when he represented England at Under 16, 18 and 20 levels. From there Mark, had successful club stints with Wasps, London Scottish, Henley and Esher before spending the last three years jet setting around the world with the England Sevens squad.

However Mark believes the time has come to move on from the sport and start a new life in a new career.

“It has been a tough decision but with all the injuries, I think now more than ever is the best time to get out there and experience a new career. I have played for some great teams and with some great players, so now is a good time to start over.
