The RPA is pleased to announce the final new trophy to be presented at The RPA Computacenter Players’ Awards 2013 on Wednesday 22nd May.

In addition to the newly created RFU Championship Player of the Year and Monitise England Player of the Year Award, the ceremony will this year recognise the tremendous talent in the women’s game. The England Women’s Player of the Year in association with 15 Magazine has been voted for by players in the England Women’s 7s and 15s squad.

Fresh from lifting the London Sevens trophy at Twickenham on Sunday, the following players have received a further boost during the build-up to the final round of the IRB Sevens World Series in Amsterdam this week and the Rugby World Cup Sevens in June.

Nominees for England Women’s Player of the Year in association with 15 Magazine:

Katherine Merchant

Emily Scarratt

Joanne Watmore

Quotes from the nominees:

Katherine Merchant said: “I am really surprised but honoured to be shortlisted for this award, especially as it is my peers who have nominated me. It is great to receive this sort of recognition from my fellow team-mates and I am genuinely taken aback by it!

“This has been a great season so far for England, with our series win over the World Champions New Zealand, and also our progress in the Sevens World Series where we currently sit second. Obviously the big one is still to come – the Rugby World Cup Sevens in June – and we are all really excited by that.
